“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 11:25
What an amazing promise from the Lord in His book of wisdom, Proverbs. This promise though, has an action on our part. We have to do something to get something in this case.
Becoming a Christian just to be “saved” is not what the Lord desires. Yes, He is very happy when we accept His free gift of Jesus Christ so that our sins might be erased and we would share an eternity with him, but it doesn’t stop there. It’s a start, not an end. He desires us to then be His hands and feet, blessing and helping others in our day to day lives. If we do, God has promised us that we will be “enriched” and “watered.” So, what does that look like in our lives? Will we be blessed exactly as we bless others? Will we get a $1 back if we give a $1 to another? If we give someone a coat will we get a coat back later? I don’t believe it works exactly like that. If we give a $1, it doesn’t necessarily mean that God will give you exactly a $1 back, but He will enrich your life with His abundant blessings. We don’t know all that, that means, but we do know that God is good and His blessings are more than we can image. Could it be that He increases your desire to love Him and love others? Could it be that He helps you to purify your life better? Could it be that He gives you abundant joy that you had no idea was possible? Maybe He’ll increase your patience and peace. Maybe He’ll increase the depth of your Christian friendships. Maybe He’ll bless you financially so that you could, in turn, bless others. We don’t know what God has in store, but we can trust that it is good.
So, with that being said, how are you doing with bringing blessing to the lives of others? It’s a promise worth taking God up on.
Blessings on this day!
